Study
The Wedding Party Bridal Show.
Beginning in 2005, The Wedding Party Bridal Show,
San Diego’s most elegant and upscale bridal event,
retained MESA Integrated Marketing to handle
publicity and media relations for their bi-annual
shows to generate local awareness and drive
attendance. Event publicity included setting the
media strategy and messaging. The agency created
targeted San Diego broadcast and print media lists.
Press materials created/distributed included
calendar announcements, event news release,
exhibitor list, media advisories and pitch letters.
Story pitching was ongoing and conducted via email
and telephone.
For
each Show, media hits have included pre-Show TV
interviews for the client with all or many of the
local affiliates and independent stations including
NBC, CBS, ABC, WB and KUSI. Print media
coverage has included the San Diego Union
Tribune, Ranch and Coast, Riviera, and
994, among others. Day-of coverage has included
many of the local TV stations sending crews to the
Show for the pre-event activities and actual event
coverage. In addition, pitches to business editors
on The Wedding Party Bridal Show have yielded long
profile stories in the San Diego Business Journal
and San Diego Union Tribune.
Case Study
MADD San Diego County
In
2005 and 2006, MADD San Diego County hired MESA
Integrated Marketing to provide public relations
support for their annual Strides for Change 5K Walk.
Activities included creating a PR plan that
addressed the need for recruiting walkers and giving
exposure to MADD via pre-event and event day media
coverage. In addition, the agency secured KUSI-TV
as the media sponsor for the Walk for both years. As
the media sponsor, KUSI created and aired its
own public service announcements and had two of its
news anchors serve as Walk co-chairs. The station
conducted several pre-event interviews with the
client and victims/survivors. The station also
broadcasted live coverage of the event in 2005, as
well as in 2006.
MESA
PR activities involved creating targeted print and
broadcast media lists and appropriate press
materials including calendar announcements, event
news releases, media advisories and pitch letters.
In addition, MESA distributed MADD national radio
and TV Strides for Change public service
announcements, featuring actress/talk show host
Kelly Ripa, to local station public service
announcement directors.
Media
follow up was ongoing and conducted via email and
telephone.
For the 2005 Walk, media hits included pre-Walk TV
interviews for the client and victims/survivors with
all of the local affiliates and independent stations
including NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, WB, KUSI, and a
number of Hispanic stations. Print media coverage
has included the San Diego Union Tribune and many
local community newspapers. In 2005, day-of coverage
included all of the local TV stations sending crews
to the Walk as well a reporter from the San Diego
Union-Tribune.
In
2006, to garner more pre-Walk attention, Mesa
Integrated Marketing worked with the client to stage
a kick-off event two months prior to the Walk that
called for participants to donate a pair of their
old walking shoes to MADD in remembrance of this
year’s drunk driving victims. The kick-off press
conference attracted numerous civic, government,
political and law enforcement officials. Media
attendance included two local TV stations and two
print media outlets. Pre-event interviews included
on-air interviews with the NBC and Fox affiliates
and two interviews with independent station KUSI.
Case Study
Destinations Medical Spa
Launched in early 2007 as the region’s only mobile
medical spa, Destinations Medical Spa (DMS) retained
MESA for PR services from its inception. Following
the development of a comprehensive public relations
plan, implementation began and included garnering
substantial local and regional press for the new
company. To date, coverage for DMS includes
interviews/demos on all major local TV news programs
including KNSD, KGTV, KFWB, KUSI, Fox 6 as
well as a ¾ page story with two photos in the Sunday
Currents section of the San Diego Union-Tribune,
and numerous other publications/media outlets
including WS Radio programs, Ranch & Coast, San
Diego Business Journal, San Clemente Journal,
among others. Because the medical director of DMS is
an accomplished equestrian, coverage in these
publications has also been secured. Current plans
call for expanding media coverage into South Orange
County.
