Mary E. Schmidt-Krebs, APR
Mary
E. Schmidt-Krebs, APR, is owner/principal of MESA
Integrated Marketing, Inc., a full-service public
relations, marketing communications and promotions
company.
An
award-winning public relations professional, Ms.
Schmidt-Krebs’ professional experience includes
successful corporate, agency, non-profit and
consultant public relations and marketing
communications programming. Since founding her
consultancy in 1998, she has personally planned,
organized and managed communications programs for a
diverse set of clients on local, regional and
national levels. Her agency and corporate experience
includes working for clients and companies in the
consumer, business-to-business, franchise,
restaurant, theme park, agricultural, software
technology, sporting goods, health care, travel and
telecommunications industries.
Previously, Ms. Schmidt-Krebs worked with many
well-known corporate entities including Mail Boxes
Etc., Your Office USA, Peregrine Systems, Porter-Novelli
Public Relations, MADD and the American Cancer
Society. Her work there included representing
companies and clients to local, national and
international print and broadcast media outlets,
strategic planning, special event planning, public
affairs, A/V production, promotions, training,
investor relations, trade show development and
collateral material production.
Ms.
Schmidt-Krebs was honored as the 2010 Deborah Baker
Public Relations Professional of the Year at the
Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence awards. The
award was presented by the Public Relations Society
of America (PRSA), San Diego/Imperial Counties
Chapter, at its annual awards banquet. Over the
years, she has earned various professional awards
including numerous Edward L. Bernays awards from the
San Diego County Chapter of the Public Relations
Society of America (PRSA) and a LULU Award of
Excellence from the Los Angeles Advertising Women.
She was named Instructor of the Year in 1997 at CSU
Long Beach for the University College and Extension
Services.
A
current board member, Ms. Schmidt-Krebs previously
served an 18-month term as president of the San
Diego County Chapter of PRSA which boasts more than
300 members locally. In 1999, she earned her
accreditation in public relations from PRSA and is
now serving her third three-year term as a national
assembly delegate for the San Diego County chapter.
Previously, Ms. Schmidt-Krebs served a two-year term
as treasurer for the PRSA Western District board, a
5-state region, and now sits on the board. In 2002,
she chaired the District and was a member of the
PRSA National Nominating Committee. She is a past
professional advisor to the SDSU chapter of PRSSA,
the local student chapter of PRSA. Ms. Schmidt-Krebs
served as co-chair to the local chapter’s 50th
Anniversary planning committee.
Ms.
Schmidt-Krebs is a member of the Marketing Public
Relations Advisory Board for Alliant International
University and the San Diego MADD Advisory Council.
From 2001 - 2005, she served a five-year term on the
board of the State of California’s Physician’s
Assistant Committee and chaired the group’s
Education and Public Affairs Sub-Committee. From
1985 - 2000, Ms. Schmidt-Krebs was the marketing
program developer/coordinator and an instructor to
the University College and Extension Services at CSU
Long Beach. In addition, from 1998–2000 she taught
courses in public relations at the University of
California at San Diego Extension Services.
Ms.
Schmidt-Krebs earned a bachelor’s degree from CSU
Long Beach, with a double major in journalism and
sociology and an emphasis in public relations. She
also attended CSU Fullerton where she took graduate
level courses in communications..
